The Twilight Zone!
Here at the Palms Art Gallery, we would never seek to promote dark art that is without a moral behind the story, or of no value of education to help others better understand the world of heart and human emotion, we know and believe all art should lead the human mind back to a greater understanding of how to reach a more loving, safe and productive society.
We see all too often that artist, writers, painters and musicians fail completly to provide a "image" that leaves the viewer a better person, a better friend, a better lover or parent.
For the marketing Dept. of any broadcaster there is empty space between the advertisements that must be filled and often the people in charge of such things, will simply fill that empty space with anything that might get a person's attention, no matter how devoid of "Classic Worth" it might be.
We see as well, when a artist makes a image in any form that enlightens the veiwer to better understand the world, that artist go's down in history as a "Classisist" as can be seen in Victor Hugo, Charles Dickens, Alexander Dumas, The Moody Blues, or The French Impressionist.
Real grace and serenity can not be faked, and it is a hard place to get to, not just in life, but to teach it in art as well. Many artist come to the market broken, and their pain and un healed rage shows in their work, paintings, story's and song, the work above is by "Gerhartz"
WE as viewers of this parade of "Entertainment" must if we are going to call ourselves adults, decide just what the beautiful is, and what the beautiful is not.
We must decide what we are going to let into our "Personal Gallery" of the heart and wether something is healing or destructive to our greater reactive inner being.
The facts are..We are what we think art is.
ROD SERLING
put his work down in history by knowing just these facts, and writing televison plays that always left the viewer "Enlightened" about the human experiance, in his work, a person grew a little wiser with each viewing of Rod Serlings work.
He was taught the importance of writting this way by life experiance. As a child he grew up in the "Great Depression", in the town he lived in, most folks worked for a shoe factory, when the depression came, the owners of that factory decided to just go own making shoes and paying everyone as if nothing was going on in the outside world. So while many towns lost their "Gazebo Band" in the park on sundays, or their library could not buy new books, or the court house layed folks off from work, Rod Serling's town prospered and remained the same.
The Binghamton, NY Park of Rod Serling's youth which was used in many of his shows
So he grew up in a very safe and beautiful isolated town while the rest of the world wept tears of horror while trying to survive the Depression.
This is why in many of his shows, serling protrayed a happy traveler who is driving and comes to a new town and slowly comes to see something is very wrong and bad about that town, because to leave the town Rod Serling grew up in was to enter another world, The world of the Great Depression.
Another Life event that played in many of his story's was his experiance in war.
Once he and another soldier were completly lost and walking through fields where the american forces had dropped huge crates of supplies on parachutes, but each crate of food they came to had been emptyed by other soldiers and the local starving farmers.
His partner was walking about a hundred feet behind Rod Serling, and they where saying they wish more drops of supplies would be made, he notticed that his partner had stopped anserwing him, and when he looked behind he saw a 1 ton parachuted crate of food had landed on his partner and killed him.
They got their wish for more food, but one of them died at its arrival.
It was ironic and life changing events like these that made him see what a real story could do to the viewer, to change them for ever, and thus the "Moral Horror Fable" was born, which he called "The Twlight Zone"
Rod Serling, Hours before a event that would change him forever and inspire him to invent and write the" Moral Horror Fable".
In Childhood, in war and during the depression, Rod Serling lived in a world that was always trying to maintain a quaility of life that was conducive to raising children and keeping a wife happy, safe, serene.
And this shows in almost every one of his famious plays, 95 of which he wrote for the Twilights Zone alone.
And the facts are these, you can move to a new town, a new job, a new group of friends, and all may seem well and fine for a while, and then a event may open your eyes, scare your heart or rock your soul, seeing at last something, that is just not healthy and is wrong for the soul
Someone has put the ace card where there should be a rose, and whole towns fall for it and invite you to join them in their pain and darkness, if you are dumb enought, lonely enought, or just do not know what real beauty, love, art, or a sane life is.
And in almost every show the means of escape was to have to walk alone, break away from the herd, the crowd, and stop giving in to conformity.
There was another message too, if we do not make a choice to take higher ground, and yes maybe even walk alone, then life will then make a choice for us, and make us pay thru the nose for not acting sooner, and while least expecting it we will find ourselves having arrived at a fifth dimension way way beyond that which is known to healthy, happy, and safe, It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of humanity's fears and the summit of humanity's knowledge. This is the dimension of dark imagination and pain. It is an area which we call =

Rod Serlings work continues today in movies like this one "Rise Of The Planet of the Apes" which he pioneered in the first editions of the "Planet of the Apes" with charleton Heston, which he co- wrote and like all his work, These movies are not Comic Book hero mindless pulp fiction, these movies were written for thinking adults and carried a strong moral message and warning.
Rod Serlings work with this subject could not be more timely, When Dr. Jonas Salk took a small heard of monkeys to make his polio Vacine, he took monkeys that all had the "Aids Virus" and changed their immune systems to that of a humans immune system to make his vacine, with monkey blood, then he released those monkeys back into the enviroment. Some years latter the aids virus made the "Species Jump" to humans and we saw the plague of aids hit humans after centurys of only killing monkeys, many believe aids was able to make the species jump to humans solely because of these--

DOES EVOLUTION NESESSITATE REVOLUTION?
Maybe Rod Serling was trying to tell us something.
