In the last thirty days in America, 35,000 people threw up their hands, put a smile on their face and bought a "Scooter", joining the millions in Germany, France. Italy and England who "Scoot".
And they are not crazy, mopeds have a almost unbelievably low accident rate compared to motor cycles, we interviewed many folks for this article who have never had a single accident in thirty years. But what you can not find out about mopeds is that riding one is one of the most cathartic and stress releasing experiences you will ever have. One 63 year old woman we interviewed said, "I never lived till I went down the road feeling free from every problem of the world 30 miles per hour on a scooter!"
There are two kinds of mopeds. The china bikes that sell for $700.00 to $2000.00, and the Japanese/Taiwan bikes that cost $2900.00 to $7900.00, the latter of course being made a little better, but not much.

These bikes cost about 1500.00 on an average and come with a funny warrenity that includes parts but no labor most times. The best way to buy one of these bikes is thru a dealer, but often in many areas there is no dealer near by or the local dealer only sells cheaply made bikes and so people order them on the internet.the internet method is very tricky, you must deeply check in to a sellers complaint background of a Dealer/Seller or you may do your self a real dis-service.
Here at Palms we recommend you shop for local dealers, if that does not work then shop the net for a name brand bike and have it serviced locally. The net is full of the old style bikes that are small and hard to see in traffic,The newer style "Hy-Ped" bikes shown here are a little harder to find but can easily be gotten, just look for 16 inch tires.

How many scooter shops can you go to and see great Scooter's.. get great repair work.
They have a diognostic repair Wizard named "JIM" who over sees everything and is darn tall enough to do it too!
And a great warm hearted mechanic named "BOB"
And maning the front desk, "Allen" can sell you a great scooter bike or ATV.
The repair shop was slick clean, very very organized, you could sense brains at work there and we never sensed pressure to buy anything, but the warm hand of community was always exrtended.
These guys are a real charm, even if you have nothing to do go by and see them
Cause sometimes magic happens when all the right folks get together and these guys are just that.
